I had high hopes when i entered Anna university Trichy that i would get to know what engineering is all about but all i witnessed is competition between lecturers and students as to who would bunk more classes.I guess I'm one among the sorry bunch of students who didn't know head or tail about engineering when they took it and is still trying to figure it out even in thier final years.In Tamil Nadu I'm pretty sure that my category would surely outweigh the "yes I'm interested in engineering and i know all about it" category.Most of the students from my end are victims of their parents dream of seeing their sons/daughters in reputed engineering institutes. For all the mom's and dad's reading this,before dumping your children into engineering have an interactive session with them or take them to a Counsellors to to identify their passion or interests.His core interest which leads him to an ideal career matters more than the your pride.
