"Whoa! I'm a part of great institution..!! I'll be successful in a couple of years earning lots and lots of money" This is exactly the general perception among candidates who get into the IIM's or other good B-schools. They never really know what's waiting for them in the next two years.
If you ask a MBA graduate (not for a interview;)) casually what is the main purpose of him taking up this course and the spontaneous answer will be "I took this because this college has great placements". According to many Indian MBA's, monetary benefits seemed to be the main cause for opting this course. Moreover, nowadays there is a drastic change in terms of composition of B-school graduates. The reason being, many engineers are opting to change their stream to management. Engineers making an integral part of B-school graduates has only worsened the situation of Indian MBA structure. I dare to say the above statement because of the fact that Engineers do take up this option thinking that they need a White-Collar job wherein in Engineering they won't get an option of such. And also they think MBA is a "Shortcut to Success".

It is actually these misinterpretations that led to the downfall of Indian MBA's. They need to know that a Managerial job is no icing on the cake and the Manager has certainly got to get his hands dirty in order to complete the work. Corporate Managers, these days undergo lots of stress levels and those who cannot survive the pressure of being the Managers quit and search for another job.
It is no pre-written fact that only MBA's make a good manager because there are a lot of other proven examples. But once you opt for a MBA you need to know the risks involved and the amount of pressure levels to be faced and get yourselves ready for the challenge. MBA is all about equipping yourselves to the next stages of the life which I suppose is full of pressure and stress.
B-schools miss the trick in getting practical exposure to the students. MBA course structure must get a lot of practical knowledge and it helps the students big time. The students need to be more realistic and  practical. They can not carry a Marketing book to wherever they go and explain from it. In countries like United States of America, students who need to pursue MBA must minimum possess 5 years of work experience. No wonder they boast of world's best B-schools like Stanford and Harvard.

MBA is not just any-other post graduate program, but it produces managers who are responsible for any happenings in the company. Infosys now has serious problems at its top management committee. Its simply because it did not have a strong CEO. It also affects the market performance.
India's economy is sure to leap bounds in the coming decade. For a developed nation 60% of its companies are manufacturing whereas in India its just 31%. We generally get consumption based demands. Many manufacturing units developed can do loads of good to our country. For this various startups are required. Entrepreneurship must be encouraged in B-schools rather than to be a part of MNC just for the kick of earning lots of money. If this scenario is changed i.e. when people do take MBA to pursue their entrepreneurial skills, only then We can expect to a Developed INDIA.
